Goals/Objectives - The Advanced Motor Sports (AMS) Enterprise represents a consortium of five of the automotive competition Enterprises currently in operation - Blizzard Baja, Clean Snowmobile, EcoCAR, Formula SAE, and Supermileage Systems. While each team operates as a separate Enterprise entity, the AMS umbrella encourages the teams to take advantage of the diverse talent, economies of scale, and synergistic opportunities afforded to the group as a whole. Each of these competition Enterprises was created to give college students an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to a real product while attempting to address the "real-world" design issues currently surrounding the automotive industry. Direct experience is gained in the design and optimization of the safety, powertrain, controls, emissions (including noise), power transmission, and chassis vehicle systems.

The goal of each of these student design competitions aligns precisely with that of Michigan Tech's Enterprise Program, namely to challenge the participants to follow a hands-on, team-based, real-world engineering process and to apply proven methods for engineering successful prototype vehicles. By doing so, these SAE Competitions and the Enterprise Program teach real-world engineering, business and other key skills to students, making them highly valuable to their chosen professions
