Industry Partner - Continental AG
Faculty Advisor - Jindong Tan
Course Number - ENG 1960/2950/2960/3950/3960/4950/4960 - Section 32

Goals/Objectives:
The Enterprise program at Michigan Tech gives teams of students the opportunity to work for several years in a student-led business-like setting to solve real-world engineering problems via end-to-end product development and project management.  The goal of this enterprise, Unmanned Vehicle Systems Enterprise, is to foster new design of autonomous vehicles which find many civilian and military applications for surveillance, rescue, geographical information systems, etc.  More importantly, the design of unmanned vehicles are naturally an interdisciplinary work that requires expertise from mechanical engineering, engineering mechanics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and material science. This enterprise cuts across several fields in science and technology in those departments. Artificial intelligence, communication systems, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, materials science, embedded systems, and computer modeling are just a few of the disciplines essential to the UVSE. Students will learn how to design and build unmanned vehicle systems through inter-disciplinary collaboration. The UVSE will also participate in several international competitions to test the practical and technical advancements of our systems. During these events, it will also be important to make contact with other universities for the purposes of technical exchange."
