Michigan Technological University (MTU) created the Enterprise Program to allow students a unique curriculum path for developing and practicing technical and business skills in a multidisciplinary setting where an emphasis is placed on projects and business. The Enterprise Program typically makes an impression on students, causing them to return to the same teams each year. ATT like all other enterprises is managed by the students, with Dr. John Gierke, one of Michigan Tech's finest faculty members serving as advisor and mentor.

ATT began as an environmental consulting enterprise, initially focusing on a collaborative project with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC). The task of the enterprise was to characterize the Silver River Watershed on the L’Anse Indian Reservation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The results from this study were relayed to the KBIC for their use in land development and resoration. We are now working on two projects funded by the National Science Foundation. One is to develop interest in the environmental sciences in high school students while the other is to find a clean source of drinking water for the city of Boaco, Nicaragua.

ATT has grown from focusing on only one technical project to managing two large scale projects. Along with these active projects, the members of the enterprise are actively pursuing several technical opportunities with funding agencies, consulting firms, and industries.
