Year four of Challenge X focuses a lot on the outreach aspect of the competition. This is where we utilize our vehicle to teach the public about hybrid technology and the future of this vehicle architecture. Over the past year Michigan Tech has spent a great deal of time reaching out towards the community and teaching the community about hybrid technology.
At the beginning of October 2007 MTU Challenge X cooperated with Little Brothers Friends of the elderly in a volunteer effort to help with supplying wood to people in need. MTU Challenge X also worked with them at the beginning of November 2007 in a food drive. MTU Challenge X traveled around the area collecting food from various families in an effort to collect food for those in need. Also at the beginning of December we worked with another group in Houghton/Hancock area to deliver holiday packages to those in need. We delivered around 30 packages to families in need around the Baraga, Michigan area.
During our three week break for the holidays our team switched gears in regards to outreach. Our vehicle took a 2000 mile road trip around Lake Michigan. This trip was a great test of our vehicle and also a great way to show of our car. Below is the presentation over viewing the road trip and some news articles from the trip.
