Project Description
"There is a great need for winterizing homes in the Upper Peninsula because of how cold it gets up here. Many people here cannot afford to get their homes properly insulated for winter. We go into the home with people from Michigan Tech and Melissa Davis and help them with making the home more winter-proof. It helps save a lot of money on heating, water, and electricity. Our team hopes to winterize as many homes as we can this year to help out people in our communities.
This project involves science and technology by the use of a thermal imaging camera. This camera helps show us where the heat is leaking out of the house. This really helps us because it shows us which areas need to be insulated better. This project involves math because we need to measure the insulation that we put into the house."--project description by student
