Sustainable Solutions Enterprise

A sustainable approach to a traditional fellowship hall design on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Because of Pine Ridge’s location in an area with few trees and other forms of protection against tornadoes, the community identified a need for a community storm shelter design.  The project would investigate the most cost effective methods of providing the residents of the Reservation with that protection.

Sustainable Solutions is willing to work on identifying new projects if a member expresses an interest in doing something else or if a potential project sponsor has a need for our services.

This project’s scope would be to design a house that would cost $20,000 or less to construct.  Pine Ridge is located in the second poorest and while there is a need for housing, it is a very difficult thing for families to afford.  This project would work along with one of the local division of HUD.

Because of Pine Ridge’s location in South Dakota, they have an abundant supply of wind energy.  This project would look into harvesting that energy and making it available to the residents and business on the Reservation.
