Michigan Tech’s Mini Baja Enterprise routinely places in the top 25% among the more than 100 teams competing at the SAE sanctioned events. In 2008, Mini Baja competed in all 3 SAE events and placed 9th, 11th, and 12th

Michigan Tech was sixth overall in the 2011 SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge.Michigan Tech’s team claimed the Caterpillar Corporation Award for Innovation. On their zero emissions sled, they moved the drive axle to the back, increasing efficiency. They were credited for “excellent critical thinking.” Zero emissions captain Mike Rittenour discussed Michigan Tech’s first year in the category. “We learned a lot from our mistakes,” he said “We want to come back and do well. We need to start in September,” he said.
In 2011 Michigan Tech competed with a new vehicle which integrates the latest in lightweight materials, engine controls and technologies, and chassis/suspension design.
