Information for Schools that want to get involved

Earth Tomorrow at Lewis Cass Technical High School

A group called Earth Tomorrow at Cass Tech is Aqua Terra Tech's first "Apprentice Enterprise". They are an extra curricular group which meets after school to work on a project creating a rain garden. Aqua Terra Tech members have been communicating with Earth Tomorrow students via email and phone and have visited when possible. During the summer of 2005 a group of Cass Tech students visited Michigan Tech for a Summer Youth Program in which Aqua Terra Tech introduced them to basic hydrogeology.

"The visits to Cass Tech are most enjoyable. It is great to see the kids getting involved and having a desire to learn about the environment in which they live."
-Stephanie Garbacik

During the last trip to Detroit, we brought the Cass Tech students supplies to begin raingarden bucket experiments. These bucket experiments will allow the students to test multiple situations and environments that a raingarden may endure. Situations the students may set up include various soil and plant type variations. With these various environments the students will test the amount of water that is taken up by the plant life and the soil, as well as how well the plants survive in the different soil types with various "rainfall" amounts.
